EEF Technology Hub

Owens was awarded the contract for the full mechanical services installation at the EEF Technology Hub—an advanced education facility comprising 20 classrooms, offices, toilet blocks, kitchens and a large workshop.

Working alongside Intex Projects and One Creative, Owens was tasked with delivering a high-performance, energy-efficient system within a tight 17-week programme, meeting both the functional and environmental demands of a modern learning environment.

Solutions

To meet the complex and varied requirements of the building, Daikin VRV Heat Recovery systems were installed to provide both heating and cooling to classrooms and office spaces. Fresh air ventilation was supplied by air handling units located in multiple plant rooms.

For the large workshop area, Owens utilised the high-efficiency Reznor SDH unit (81% thermal efficiency) to deliver tempered fresh air cost-effectively.

Two Ideal EVO Max boilers, paired with a Hamworthy calorifier, provided hot water to over 45 basins, 5 showers, 35 radiators and two catering-grade kitchens.

Due to limited mains pressure, a 2,000-litre Duty Point booster set was installed to maintain consistent water supply throughout. All systems were brought together under a custom-built BMS panel, ensuring intelligent and energy-efficient control across the facility.

Benefits

  • Delivered on a fast-track 17-week programme
  • Energy-efficient systems tailored to educational environments
  • Reliable hot water and climate control across diverse areas
  • Smart building control via bespoke BMS for optimal performance
  • High indoor air quality and thermal comfort for all building zones
  • Effective coordination with partners ensured seamless delivery
